Davis Sr. High School opened its doors in the Fall of 2012, and within the first year we have produced several productions for students, faculty and staff, and the Greater-Houston community. In, October, 2012 we produced Romeo & Juliet, in February, 2013, To be young, gifted, and black, and in March, 2013, our UIL One-Act Play Contest Entry - Bury the Dead, where our students received several major acting awards. Also, we attended Texas Renaissance Festival and performed at the Texas Education Theatre Association Convention. In 2014, we competed and advance in UIL One-Act Play contest, with the play, Before it Hits Home by Cheryl L. West and garnered several major acting and technical crew awards from Honorable Mention All-Star Cast to Best Actor for District 18-5A. In 2015, we produced an original production called New Faces: A Change Has Gotta' Come, The Jungle Book, and the award winning The Shadow Box. In 2016-2017, we produced Hamlet, The Cover of Life, The hit Musical The Little Shop of Horror, and competed in UIL One-Act play competition. This marked the second consecutive year, the Theatre Department advanced to the 4th Round Area competition in Class 6A Competition. Along the way, the students garnered numerous acting and technical theatre awards, with the play production of The Women of Troy.
We are looking forward to an even bigger and more exciting year, with the slate of shows we are going to produce for the 2017-2018.
